New firm to create 200 jobs in Clonmore

Up to 200 jobs are to come on stream in Mullingar, as it emerged the IDA have agreed to the lease of the old GMAC building in the Clonmore Industrial Estate.

The company, which has been in talks with the IDA and Mullingar Chamber of Commerce for a number of months, are looking to create up to 200 jobs over the next two years, but their long-term forecast is for 1,500-2,000 jobs across the Midlands within 10 years.

The IDA are currently readying the building for the new venture, with the company due on site in the coming months.

It is understood the company are specialists in IT services and in business process outsourcing, having headed up many projects as well as outsourcing for some of the biggest organisations in Ireland.

In the last few months they have located to offices in Mullingar while developing this new project, and the IDA have agreed and approved terms and conditions to the lease of the building.

Mullingar Chamber has been working closely with the IDA for over a year to raise the profile of Mullingar as a serious destination for business. Last year the chamber joined forces with Westmeath Community Development to devise a call centre management course, which ran from October to December. Another course is due to start in April.

It is understood that Westmeath County Council and local TDs also played a role in securing the lease.
