“If you’re in court again, the punishment will ratchet up,” Judge Hughes warned a Mullingar teenager.
Dwayne McKevitt (18 ) of 167 Dalton Park admitted being drunk and abusive at the Final Fence on December 20 last and was fined €100.
“Just be careful - you’re a young man and the court doesn’t want to be hard on anyone,” the judge said after hearing how McKevitt has six previous convictions, mostly for public order offences.
He got the first when he was just 14.
McKevitt was seen on Garda CCTV as he attempted to start a fight with someone on Pearse Street. That man offered no aggression, the court heard.
He continued on the street, attempting to engage other members of the public and he was aggressive, Inspector Drea said, adding that this was a one-sided thing.
When he was stopped by gardaí, he was clearly drunk.
Mr Louis Kiernan said McKevitt is rarely out drinking and this was a once-off event which his client has little memory of.
He is now doing his Leaving Cert.
