Mullingar Student Players celebrate 10 years with a production of Miss Saigon

In 2003, a group of talented youngsters from the Mullingar area were assembled by Sean Lynch, director of the Mullingar Arts Centre together with musical director, the vivacious Angela Lynch. The group came to be known as Mullingar Student Players.

Incredibly, 10 years have passed since that first triumphant production. To celebrate their tenth anniversary, the Mullingar Student Players will proudly present Miss Saigon, in April.

Miss Saigon is based loosely on Puccini’s opera, Madame Butterfly. It tells the tragic tale of the doomed romance between an Asian woman and her American GI lover. The setting is Saigon in the 1970s, during the Vietnam War, and it has enjoyed record-breaking runs in the West End and on Broadway.

Technical wizardry includes special effects, which the team at the Mullingar Arts Centre, under the capable direction of Paul McDermott are quite accustomed to delivering.

Miss Saigon will be presented at the Mullingar Arts Centre from Tuesday April 2 to Saturday April 6, at 8pm.

Tickets are €15/€12 and available by calling (044 ) 9347777.
