National Tree Week is taking place this year from March 3-9. This event is organised by the Tree Council of Ireland and supported by Coillte.
Westmeath County Council in conjunction with the Tree Council of Ireland and Coillte has a limited number of free saplings to give to schools, community groups, etc.
The theme is ‘A Feast of Trees’, to remind people of the role of trees in providing food for humans, birds, bees, and other wildlife. The range of foods from trees - fruit, nuts, seeds, oils, leaves, roots, and bark will be highlighted along with the relationship between trees, bees, pollination, and food crop production. National Tree Week is an opportune chance for organisations to do something positive for their local landscape.
To avail of this offer contact Belvedere House, Gardens and Park, Mullingar at (044 ) 9349060 or email [email protected].
The closing date for receipt of orders is 5pm this Friday February 22. All trees are to be collected at Belvedere House Gardens and Park from 10am-4pm, from Sunday March 3. Any trees not collected by March 10 will be redistributed.
