An artisan food fair is set for Mullingar next weekend, just in time for Christmas shoppers. The fair, which will be held in the Mullingar Park Hotel will take place on Saturday December 13 and Sunday December 14 from 11am to 5pm.
Organised by local caterer and artisan food producer, Therese Gilsenan, the food fair promises a wide range of organic and artisan food and drink to suit every taste and price range.
Therese herself produces a wide range of foods including delicious sauces, relishes, dressings, pesto, puddings, and cakes. Speaking to the Advertiser, Therese explained that she has organised the food fair to meet the demand of Christmas shoppers. Last year Therese had a food hall at the Belfry Restaurant for two nights and she felt that people want good wholesomely produced food for Christmas.
This year’s fair is much bigger and features a wide range of stalls including: Pheasant Hill Farm, Co Down, which produces free range rare breeds including lamb, pork, poultry, turkey, quails, venison, ham, bacon, and sausages; Aine Chocolates, Co Cavan, award winning, gold medal artisan producer of handmade chocolates including gluten free, sugar free, organic, and fair trade chocolates; John Rogan of Corry Lane Smoked Fish, artisan producer of organic trout, salmon, and locally caught eel and mackerel; Nick Seymour, Co Louth, organic fair trade hand- roasted coffee and delicious coffee blends; Mary Kelly of Moonshine, Mullingar, which produces award-winning organic, and locally produced soft cheese, smoothies, and yogurts; and McDermott Wines, Mullingar, a boutique wine wholesaler with a mixture of organic and non-organic wines from small wine producers in France, including delicious wines and champagnes for Christmas entertaining.
