Neven Maguire to host food demo for Loreto College on Wednesday night

Neven Maguire will join local food producers for a night of cooking at Mullingar Park Hotel this Wednesday night, February 6 in aid of the Loreto College’s refurbishment fund.

The evening will start at 7pm when local food producers will display their artisan fare for guests to sample and buy on the night including Dunbia Beef, Cole’s Home Bakery, Lilliput Loaf, and Barba Icecream. Chef Neven Maguire will then host a cookery demonstration at 8pm using locally sourced ingredients.

One of the key ingredients on the night, along with Westmeath produce, will be Newgrange Gold rapeseed oil.

Only six months old, this business is very much in its infancy and John Rogers the former Attorney General, whose father was a Meath man, has handed over the reins to his son Jack Rogers to develop the brand and spread the word. Jack will showcase four products on the night: rapeseed oil, chilli garlic rapeseed oil, garden herb rapeseed oil, and the piece de resistance, camelina oil.

All proceeds on the night will go towards the refurbishment of the old convent building which has now been designated for educational use. The school hopes to make internal changes including the creation of classrooms, music rooms, and a staff room. There are already plans for another fundraising drive for a new library.

Tickets are priced at €20 and are available from the school, as well as Days Bazaar, Fagan Office Supplies, and Mullingar Park Hotel. There will be some tickets available on the night but advanced purchase is advised.

The Loreto College is asking all parents and past pupils to come out on the night and support the school.
