A very scarce copy of The Midlands a local historical journal edited by Leo Daly and published in 1976 - featuring interesting articles on County Westmeath, among others - will be just one of the items at Sunday’s Antique and Fine Art Fair at the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar.
The interesting journal will be on offer from Boro Rare Books from Co Wicklow who will be exhibiting at the fair. There will also be other items of local interest including a limited edition copy of Desmond Egan’s The Hill of Allen - one of only 500 copies published by the Goldsmith Press in 2001 signed by Egan and co-author Daithi O hOgain.
A copy of The Deserted Village by Goldsmith a scarce bi-centenary publication, will also feature.
Local histories relating to neighbouring counties Longford and Offaly with a first edition of James Farrell’s History of the county of Longford and Thomas Lalor Cooke’s Early History of the Town of Birr are also on offer.
The Boro Books stand will feature a wide range of Irish interest books including history, literature and topography. A general interest section covering books on shooting fishing, art, signed poetry editions, etc, will complete the stand.
Overall there will be many quality stands featured at the fair, including, art, antiques, books, silver, jewellery, glass, porcelain, and more.
The fair runs from 11am -5pm on Sunday February 3 in the Greville Arms Hotel.
