Smartphone app publishing company, Townapps Ltd, recently launched the Athlone App.
The company says they have received fantastic reaction from memebers of the public across Athlone in terms of user downloads and overall engagement in the app.
The app among other things, allows users, to avail of offers from Athlone businesses. The project is focussed on improving the Athlone experience for both locals and visitors alike by helping them plan their shopping, as well as show them options for where to stay, where to eat, where to visit, choose from a list of events, and much more.
The Athlone App also enables small independent retailers to compete on the same level locally as national brands, some of whom have their own apps.
Based in the Midlands Innovation and Research Centre at Athlone IT, Townapps chief executive Joe Connaughton said: “Athlone is used to leading the way on new technology development as it is home to the Ericsson corporation and AIT, two fabulous resources.
“The phenomonal uptake in usage of smartphones opens up new avenues for Athlone businesses to relate with users,” he continued.
The app is free to download for both Apple and android phones from the usual app sites (search ‘Athlone’ ).
Recently, in conjunction with Tom Tailor, one of the many stores on the app with voucher offers, Townapps gave away an android tablet to one lucky winner who redeemed one of the vouchers at the Athlone Towncentre store.
