A residents association in Mullingar has appealed a decision to grant permission to Tesco to completely re-develop its Ashe Road premises.
The proximity of the new loading bay to O’Growney Terrace is the main concern, coupled with the increase in height, and the potential loss of view for some of the residents are the main others.
In December the residents lodged a 20-page document with An Bord Pleanala, outlining their “very serious concerns” with the permission granted by the County Council to the multi-national retailer in October.
Then, it approved the plan lodged in March to demolish the existing store and petrol station, re-orient its new footprint to the westerly end of the site, and increase its overall floor space by just under 15 per cent.
