Golden Island Shopping Centre has once again shown its support for the local community by joining forces with Midlands Simon Community to help raise funds towards the fight against homelessness.
Over the Christmas period, Golden Island will again have a wonderful Christmas crib on display in the centre. As in previous years the public will have the opportunity to make a donation at the crib.
All donations received at the crib will go directly to the Midlands Simon Community and their fight to eliminate homelessness, not only in Athlone but right across the Midlands.
People will also have an opportunity to make a donation when they visit Santa, when he arrives in the centre shortly.
CEO of Midlands Simon, Tony O’Riordan, said “This is a fantastic opportunity for people to show solidarity with some of the most vulnerable and marginalised people in our community this Christmas. I would like to sincerely thank Tony McDermott and all at Golden Island for choosing Midlands Simon to benefit from this fantastic initiative. Without this type of support, and the goodwill and generosity of the wider community, we simply could not survive. It is wonderful to see that the true meaning and spirit of Christmas is alive and well, especially in these very difficult times. It goes to show what can be achieved by working together.”
