Memories and Melodies returns by popular demand

Written by Jean Farrell, Memories and Meldoies is a one woman drama that spans four decades in the lives of six characters.

Inspired by true stories Memories and Melodies will be performed on November 20 and 21 in the Passionfruit Theatre.

The show looks at the world Jean was born into in the 1950s. It follows the lives of six fictional girls all called Mary, who were in national school together. We follow them through school, the 60s, marriage, children, and what now?

It is a humorous thought-provoking look at how much life has changed for us all since then and how we have coped.

The show’s soundtrack of well-known songs and hits featured in the 50s, 60s, and 70s is sung by the newly formed vocal harmony group Luan Tunes.

This is a show to laugh at, to cry at, and to sing along with, and go home with your heart uplifted and spirits soaring.

“When I was young I lived in a world full of Marys. There were so many Marys in my national school we almost had one for every colour of the rainbow. We had a Mary Green, a Mary Browne, a Mary Black, a Mary White, a Mary Grey, and a Mary Golden,” said Jean Farrell.

After a sell out at the Athlone Little Theatre and due to popular demand, the work will be staged at the Passionfruit Theatre, Athlone for two nights under the direction of Joe McCarrick.

Tickets are €10 and are available form Ursula Hanly on (086 ) 3899026.

Proceeds of the show go to the Passionfruit Theatre fund.

Early booking is advisable and seats will be allocated on the night on a first come, first served basis.
