IO Systems announces 30 jobs for Athlone

There has been widespread welcome this week to the news that IO Systems is to create 30 new jobs in Athlone.

The materials handling company, which currently employs over 80 people at its Garrycastle base in Athlone, has secured a multi-million euro contract with Dubai International Airport.

Mayor of Athlone Jim Henson welcomed the announcement.

Deputy Nicky McFadden said that “announcements such as this one build confidence in Athlone as a strong location to do business”.

“I want to commend the management at IO Systems for their continued commitment, in particular managing director Fergal Lynam, who is a local man and has worked extremely hard to achieve this. As well as his role in IO Systems, Fergal is a member of Athlone Community Taskforce and is very much aware of Athlone’s business potential.”

Deputy Robert Troy said the announcement is “a huge boost of confidence for the region”.

IO Systems was established in 1996, and in addition to its Athlone office has sales offices in the UK and Holland.
