Crookedwood bring home the Adrian Murray Cup

Westmeath IHC final

Crookedwood 2-11

Fr Dalton’s 1-08

An inspired performance from veteran Johnny Orme following his second half introduction was instrumental in Crookedwood being crowned Westmeath intermediate hurling champions 2012. Orme bagged 2-1 to give his side a six-point win.

Tough luck on the Ballymore men who have now lost the last three finals but they failed to perform on the day. In many ways it was fitting that Enda Murray, Crookedwood captain, had the honour of lifting the cup dedicated to his late, great father Adrian.

It was also a special day for the Savage family with Antoine, Conor, and Seamus collecting intermediate county medals to add to the junior camogie medal won by their mother Antoinette earlier that day.

The Wood can now look forward to senior hurling in 2013 while it’s back to the drawing board for Fr Dalton’s.
