MS Ireland is calling on schools in County Westmeath to sign up for the 25th MS READaTHON. It was 25 years ago that the amazing Roald Dahl launched the first MS READaTHON. The author of well-loved stories such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, BFG, and The Witches gave his support to what is now the biggest schools-based reading initiative. Since then, more than 350,000 children have read many millions of books to raise funds for people with MS in Ireland.
MS Ireland is contacting schools from the beginning of September with information brochures and entry forms. The 25th MS READaTHON reading period will take place for one month from October 12 to November 12.
MS READaTHON is the key annual fundraising campaign of Multiple Sclerosis Ireland, the services, information and research society supporting people affected by MS.
Paul Dietrich, MS READaTHON commented: “We are delighted to celebrate our 25th birthday with the great support of schools locally for MS READaTHON. We are encouraging all school children, their principals, teachers and parents to get involved in this year’s campaign.”
For schools around the country, the 25th MS READaTHON will provide:

· 10 per cent of the money raised goes back into much-needed resources for each participating school
· The Great Teacher holiday draw
· The MS READaTHON School Library Award
