The Irish Draught Horse Breeders Association (IDHBA ) will be hosting the 2012 National Breed Show on Saturday August 4, in the excellent facilities of the Mullingar Equestrian Centre.
Exhibitors will need to be up bright and early, with judging beginning at 10.30am, but the public is welcome any time during the day. Although applications have already closed, the IDHBA are urging anyone with an interest in animals to attend, as the day promises to be action-packed and fun-filled.
There will be a number of events to look forward to over the course of the day. These include: Mare of the Future Championship, Progency Class, Ridden Irish Draught Championship, Working Hunter Class, Leisure Horse Class, Irish Draught Stallion Exhibition, and the much sought-after Inter Branch Perpetual Shield. The Inter Branch Shield is a perpetual shield that will be presented to the chairman of the branch whose members accumulate the most points for the branch. These points are awarded for placing in events on the day, and there is bound to be fierce competition between members.
A dog show is also planned for 2.30pm, which, although not as competitive as the National Breed show, promises to be an interesting watch for dog enthusiasts. The Irish Draught Horse Breeders Association wish all exhibitors and spectators an enjoyable, safe, successful, and sunny day, and more information can be found by calling (044 ) 9661199 or by emailing [email protected].
