Mullingar Tag to end with celebratory party

The conclusion of a fifth successful tag rugby summer season at Mullingar Rugby Club will be celebrated with the annual Mad Hatters Tea Party in the clubhouse, on the August bank holiday weekend.

This year the club hosted four leagues, comprising 24 teams and over 200 players, and over the last number of years have punctuated the warm season with the club’s now infamous Mad Hatters Party.

This year the party will start at 8pm on Saturday August 4, with music by local band, Good Man Sheila.

Tickets are €10, which includes admission and a BBQ, and can be got from any club member. There may be some on the door on the night.

Donations will be made to LARCC and cystic fibrosis, and there will be a prize for the best hat.

Anybody who wishes to avoid the cover charge can volunteer for the club’s Clean and Paint Day from 9.30 that morning, with all volunteers receiving free admission to the Mad Hatters party.

The club is in need of a makeover, and is looking for people to paint and carry out minor refurbishment works. Please bring a roller and brushes for painting if you have them.

Later in the month Mullingar RFC is holding a multi-sports camp for kids from Monday August 13 until Friday August 17 from 9.30am to 2pm each day.

There will be a boys camp, a girls camp, and a third section for teenagers.

The cost is €60 per person, and the camp is limited to the first 100.

For tickets for either the Mad Hatter’s party or the multi-sports camp call Donal on (086 ) 2679007, Robbie (085 ) 7825963, or Chris on (085 ) 8122011.
