Redemption time for Westmeath minor hurlers and footballers

It’s last chance saloon time for the minor hurlers and footballers of Westmeath with both sides in action following their opening round defeats to Laois and Louth respectively. Both sets of players will be out to redeem themselves this time out.

Carlow provide the opposition in both codes. The hurlers are in action on Saturday in Cusack Park at 1.30pm. The visitors will be full of confidence following their opening round win over Kildare. Westmeath will be hurting from their loss to Laois and with home advantage I expect the Lake County to progress.

Next Wednesday (May 9th ) our young footballers are away to the Barrowsiders. Tom Carr’s side were very disappointing in the opening round loss to Louth. Carlow got the better of Wexford in a replay last Wednesday. The Lakelanders had a comfortable win over the same opposition in a challenge match a few weeks back and provided the attitude is right they should have enough to clear this hurdle.
