Mullingar woman Dolores Keaveney will launch her fifth children’s cookbook, Beelicious recipes with honey in Red Earth, Mullingar on Sunday April 22 at 3.30pm.
The book, which is beautifully compiled and colourfully illustrated by Dolores Keaveney, draws together many of the skills she has garnered over the years. Dolores is known for her children’s books, If I were a bee, Jenny the little brown hen, Jenny an chearc bheag dhonn, and Earth Angels are everywhere; are you one?
Dolores said, “once again I am launching a book with a close association to the bees. Beelicious recipes with honey grew from an idea that my very good friend Maria gave to me one day. She said ‘you should compile a cookery book for kids using honey in your recipes’, and here it is.
Beelicious recipes with honey is a simple cookbook for small children, containing honey recipes gathered from family and friends. Learn how to bake simple scones, buns, and banana bread along with many other tasty snacks using the magic ingredient, honey. The recipes have been tried and tested. This colourful cookbook is a unique approach to children’s cooking.
Most of the recipes in this book are ones which her daughter-in-law Hilary and her grandchildren Ellie, Greg, Mal, and Will have tried and tested many times.
Ellie her granddaughter, has handwritten some of the recipes and Dolores says, “I think this adds great charm to the book”.
There is an added bonus in the book, lots of information about the bee, this amazing insect that has produced honey for millions of years.
Dolores says “I hope that the recipes will be enjoyed by children and their parents and that they will give joy to everyone who uses them and that the book helps promote one of my favourite insects the amazing bee...”
