The countdown is on to Roscommon Easter parade

With less than two weeks to go, organisers of Roscommon’s annual Easter parade are appealing for anyone wishing to take part in this year’s event to register their interest as soon as possible.

The parade is a firm fixture in the town’s calendar of community events and the committee is looking forward to lots of colourful and interesting floats on Easter Sunday. Schools, community groups, sports clubs, voluntary organisations, and businesses are all being encouraged to take part this year.

Entry fees are just €30 for community or voluntary floats and €60 for commercial entries with prizes in various categories including for shop window displays. Entries for all categories can now be emailed to [email protected]. Entry fees can be paid on the day itself or forwarded in advance to Roscommon Easter Parade c/o JC Doorly, Corner House, Castle Street, Roscommon.

In addition, local producers and craft people are being invited to come along on the day. Space will be provided to set up their stands and producers will have an opportunity to showcase and sell their products. Anyone interested in setting up a stand should call Micheál Curley on (086 ) 2481630 for full details.

If anyone has approximately two hours to spare on the day, the committee would be most grateful if they could get in contact. Extra volunteers are urgently required for a brief period during the parade and anyone wishing to lend a hand should call John Doorly on (086 ) 8115338 or email [email protected].

The parade committee is delighted to announce the launch of their new website this week. Full details can now be found at www.roscommoneasterparade.com
