The Mullingar Marketing committee, a group set up to market the town of Mullingar, has received a welcome funding boost to the tune of €8,000 from Fáilte Ireland.
Mullingar Marketing raised €8,000 though a series of fundraising events, including the Chamber dance last December, which is to be matched by Fáilte Ireland to help market the town and its events.
The group is planning to hold a ‘festival of festivals’ in Mullingar this summer, which will bring together several summer festivals over a five or six week period, in order to attract visitors to the town and to optimise tourism opportunities.
John Humphries of the Mullingar Marketing committee says the details of the events will be revealed in the coming weeks.
“This will be the first time for a festival of festivals to come to Mullingar. Instead of just one festival here or there, we’ll have a number in rapid succession. We really want to push the town and to bring tourism to Mullingar,” he said.
All money raised through fundraising events and the Fáilte Ireland contribution will be used to put together a marketing plan and to market upcoming events in the town.
