Gardai in Mullingar are seeking assistance from the public in relation to a number of incidents which took place in the town during the last week.
Between Friday and Saturday last weekend, criminal damage occurred to a school on Harbour Street, Mullingar, when five ground floor windows were broken. The same weekend, two wing mirrors of a car were broken on Castle Street, between 10pm and 10am on Friday evening/ Saturday morning.
Criminal damage to two houses was also reported last weekend. Three windows of a private house in Ashfield were broken at around midnight on Saturday. A male of a height around 6’2” wearing dark clothes was observed throwing a number of bricks, causing damage to the three windows. Damage also occurred to a house at Rathwire, Killucan on Sunday evening. Rocks were thrown through a window while the occupant was out.
On Saturday, at 7.50pm, a robbery took place at Church Avenue in the town. A female in her mid-40s was approached by two individuals from behind, one of whom held her while the other took her bag. The woman was not hurt. Two males are being sought in relation to the incident, one described as tall and the other as small.
The following day, Sunday, there was an attempted robbery from a male on Sundays Well Road. Three individuals were involved; however nothing was taken and the man was not injured. One person has been arrested in relation to the incident.
Also on Sunday, a theft occurred from a business premises in Rochfortbridge at around 2.15am. Various items to the value of €500 were stolen by shoplifters who entered the shop. The perpetrators left in a Fiat Cinquecento.
On Monday this week at 1.20am Gardai on patrol in the Grange area discovered a car on fire. There were no occupants of the vehicle, which was taken away for examination.
A glass door at a house in Friars Mill Court, Mullingar was broken at around 3.30am on Wednesday November 19.
