DJ MES makes his very first appearance in Ireland next Friday November 28 in Club Soda, Tullamore. The internationally renowned San Francisco-based DJ and producer comes to Ireland for just two gigs, so be sure to make it your business to witness a truly extraordinary performer in the flesh.
MES is owner of the US record label Guesthouse Music which turns out some of the funkiest, jackin’, underground house music on the planet with releases by DJ Sneak, Mastiksoul, Natural Rhythm, Soydan, and The Sound Republic to name a few. The larger than life (literally! ) character has fantastic energy behind the decks and is famous for his crowd pleasing sets across the States. On a recent poll on the website undergroundhouse.net, DJ MES was voted number nine in the top 10 DJs in the world, behind legends such as Derrick Carter and Mark Farina.
Supporting MES on the night is DJ Soydan who is based in Waterford these days. Originally from Turkey, Soydan set up Yakuza Recordings in Ireland and is fast becoming one of the best underground house producers around. Legendary House DJ, Mark Farina, has included a track by Soydan on his last two mix CD releases on OM Music. Not a bad start! Soydan also promotes events in Waterford at the Forum every month or so, inviting international stars to perform for the masses. DJ MES is actually over in Ireland to play in Waterford on Saturday November 29 for Soydan’s birthday bash.
Disco Nouveau promoter and resident DJ, Gamadon (Gavin MaDonagh ) from Mullingar brings some local support to the night. Disco Nouveau is a monthly night held in The Stables, Mullingar which sees the best of Irish DJs play to an intimate venue. Started in January of this year, the night has grown from strength to strength with Gamadon supporting the who’s who of Irish techno and minimal DJs throughout the period.
Gavin bumped into Soydan and MES at the Miami Winter Music Conference in March 2008 where they started discussing music and records and it was at this time that the idea of booking MES to play in Ireland came up for the first time. Eight months later…here we are!
