Mullingar ladies turn heads at this year’s Hennessy Gold Cup

This year’s Hennessy Gold Cup welcomed a variety of special guests from the world of fashion, sport, music, and the arts. On the day however, it was the fashion stakes that had heads turning due to the ladies involved in the Hennessy Best Dressed Lady 2012 in association with Design Centre.

On the day, Mullingar finalist Catherine Lundon looked stylish in a black Ted Baker and accessorised her look with a leopard print headpiece by Misa Harada and matching leopard print clutch and shoes from Aldo. The overall winner Margaret Connolly also from Mullingar was announced in front of a huge crowd at the Hennessy Best Dressed Marquee and presented with a voucher for €7,000 to spend in Design Centre. Margaret impressed judges, international fashion commentator Godfrey Deeny, Ashling Kilduff from Design Centre, and Caroline Sleiman from Moët Hennessy with her stunning cream dress and coat by Lilli Ann, brown suede gloves and brown bag, both from House of Fraser, and shoes from Barratts.

Margaret beat a contingent of Ireland’s most stylish ladies to take the coveted title of the Hennessy Best Dressed Lady 2012 in association with Design Centre. This year’s head judge charged with the difficult decision was international fashion commentator Godfrey Deeny, who has covered the runway shows of London, Milan, Paris, and New York for over a decade.

Speaking of the winner, Godfrey Deeny commented, “There was a fantastic atmosphere at this year’s Hennessy Gold Cup with everyone enjoying the glamour and the racing. We had a difficult task to choose just one winner from our fabulous finalists but I’m sure you all agree that Margaret is a worthy winner”.
