Charity lunch and auction in aid of positive mental health

The Soroptimist in Mullingar have received two valuable paintings from The Garden Gallery, Delvin, for their auction at the magical Christmas charity lunch for suicide prevention and positive mental health this Sunday December 11 in the Mullingar Park Hotel, organised by Soroptimists Mullingar.

Larry Powell has very generously organised the donation of ‘A Portrait in 3Fives’ created in a style of mixed media by John Kingerlee originally from the UK and now living in Kerry. This painting is currently valued at €2,500.

The second painting donated for auction at the lunch is titled ‘After Milking’. This is oil on board created in impasto style, by local artist Hazel Revington-Cross from Delvin. Its current value €800.

“This is going to be a wonderful magical Christmas lunch,” says president of Mullingar Soroptimists, Sarah McCormack. The partnership of the Soroptimists with Westmeath Food Network and the Mullingar Park Hotel has made it possible to make this a special event with tickets only costing €25 which includes a mulled wine reception, nibbles while you browse the magnificent display of local foods and crafts before sitting down to a three-course lunch, with entertainment, auction, and raffle all included.

Also there will be great value at the auction and no VAT on the purchase of the paintings. All profits are going to the Soroptimists’ work for suicide prevention and positive mental health for Mullingar and district.

Tickets are selling very well so president Sarah advises people to buy their ticket early and support a very worthy local charity as well as having a most enjoyable day. Tickets available from Mullingar Park Hotel, Mullingar Travel Agency, Austin Friar Street, or by calling (086 ) 2552720.
