Students from Mullingar Community College have joined the Midlands Simon Community Sing for Simon campaign this Christmas to help end homelessness in Westmeath.
The students have generously offered their time to carol sing in Harbour Place Shopping Centre Mullingar on Tuesday December 13 between 11am and 2pm. Any and all support would be greatly appreciated for these talented young carollers.
The campaign the local students have joined, Sing for Simon, is an opportunity for people to take part in, or organise, any event that involves singing (good or not so good! ) throughout December. The invitation is open to carol singers, choirs, buskers, or anyone who just likes to sing. Participants will be provided with everything they need to organise an event and all the proceeds will go to support the vital work of the Midlands Simon Community.
Midlands Simon Community works across the region to help people to move out of homelessness. This is done through the provision of a range of services and supports, including providing emergency accommodation, housing with support, enabling people to build their life and coping skills and supporting people to source a home, assisting people to move into and maintain their own home. The Midlands Simon Community also helps people to overcome many of the issues faced by those who are homeless such as health and welfare needs, poverty, loneliness, and isolation, and has supported over 950 people since its establishment in the region.
Tony O`Riordan, CEO, Midlands Simon said, “We believe in people, and believe that with help and support, that people can move out of homelessness, and rebuild their lives. We also believe that when we work together that everyone can be the key to ending homelessness. Sing for Simon is a great opportunity for people to make a real difference to those who are amongst the most vulnerable in our community and we want to thank all the students and teachers from the Mullingar Community College for being part of Sing for Simon this Christmas.”
