St Brigid’s 1-12
Fulham Gaels 0-07
St Brigid’s cleared the potentially tricky obstacle posed by Fulham Irish with little difficulty in Ruislip last Sunday to advance to the All-Ireland club semi-final. Given the fright which Crossmaglen got in the same venue last year there was bound to have been some nerves crossing the Irish Sea.
The opening quarter saw the Kiltoom men open up a 1-4 to 0-0 lead and in truth they never looked in any danger thereafter. The home side lost influential midfielder Lorcan Mulvey to a second yellow card as half time loomed and any hopes of them causing an upset went out the window. The visitors led 1-5 to 0-3 at the break.
Fulham Irish never threw in the towel and deserve enormous credit for their efforts but with the Roscommon champions determined to advance to the last four the outcome was inevitable long before the final whistle.
St Brigid’s can now look forward to a semi-final meeting with the Leinster champions. What an occasion it would be if Garrycastle could go one step better that ’09 and set up this mouth-watering clash on the weekend of February 18/19. It would certainly make for interesting times in the Dolan clan with three on each side.
