Judge Seamus Hughes has indicated that he is happy for people to propose charitable donations to keep a clean record.
“The more persons who can keep their criminal record clean, the better,” he said at the recent sitting of Mullingar District Court.
He accepted solicitor Louis Kiernan’s offer for his client to provide a donation following a public order incident outside Mojo’s in August.
Juris Krivko (26 ) of The Deck, Market Point had no previous convictions when Garda Tomas Blake saw him among a group of males outside the nightclub at around 2.20am.
He saw Krivko strike another man during the altercation but the victim chose not to make a complaint.
Mr Kiernan said his client, who is Latvian but has been living here for six years, wanted to apologise for the incident which occurred while he was out with friends.
Judge Hughes gave him until October 20 to make a donation of €350.
