A man who engaged in a continuous alcohol binge has been warned by Judge Seamus Hughes to “shape up or ship out”.
Gardaí were called to Lynn Heights, the estate that is home to Derek Fenton, at 8.30pm on September 3 this year.
A resident had gone outside to ask Fenton and another man to stop shouting and arguing but Fenton then verbally abused him.
The court heard that he threatened to burn the other man’s house down and said “get back into your f***ing house, you big bo******”.
Mr Robert Marren said his client was drunk and had turned on his neighbour.
The following morning, at 8.40am, gardaí saw Fenton on Mount Street, unsteady on his feet as he stumbled off the footpath.
Mr Marren said Fenton had been on a continuous binge and gardai are investigating a third incident which is alleged to have happened between the two offences before the court.
Judge Hughes adjourned the case to December 15 for a probation report.
