A couple who failed to comply with employment law have been fined €800 each and been ordered to pay costs totalling €700.
Edward and Patricia McDonagh of The Caman Inn, Delvin had no documentation to show an inspector from the National Employment Rights Agency who visited them on June 16 last year by appointment.
The inspector was responding to a complaint by a former member of staff about holiday money and while that complaint has been resolved, the couple were unable to provide documentation on another employee relating to payment of wages and working time.
The inspector told the judge she had issued a number of letters to them and even though she contacted their accountant a number of times, they did not send in any records.
The couple, who were being prosecuted as a partnership, are registered as employers with Revenue.
Neither appeared in court.
