Local woman completes 10 mile race in preparation for marathon

Lisa Kiernan from Mullingar was chosen to represent Westmeath in the Dublin Marathon having won the popular vote in the Spar Spartan challenge. Lisa completed the gruelling Frank Duffy 10 mile race in the Phoenix Park on August 20 in a fantastic time of 1:49 which built on her Irish Runner five mile time of 53 minutes.

The next race Lisa and the 26-strong team of Spartans will take on is the National Lottery half marathon on September 17 followed by the Dublin Marathon on October 31. The 26 Spartans are being guided in their preparation by fitness guru Karl Henry (Operation Transformation ) and nutrition expert Paula Mee, who are spearheading the campaign.
