The first weekend of the new Brosna Markets saw just over 7,000 visitors peruse the 57 stalls that set up for business.
“Visitors and sales were fantastic,” said Jim Rossi, the man behind the new retail venture which opened in the Mullingar Business Park last weekend.
“People got value and good quality, and they really enjoyed themselves,” he added.
The traders were a broad mix of local and regional, and covered everything from books to confectionery.
“We had a couple of traders who had sold out by 3pm,” he pointed out.
“It was more like a shopping village rather than a traditional market. We had a dozen or so shops who already have shops in town, like Galvins, Nuts and Grains, Holmes Comforts, LBD Boutique.”
“We can offer new traders a great opportunity to start off in business without all the risks of the high street,” he said.
The market is open from 10am on Saturdays and midday on Sundays.
Jim Rossi, originally from Canada, has been in business in Ireland for the last seven years, and is married to local woman Carol Fagan from Prospect.
