Tonight, Friday November 7 in the Greville Arms Hotel in Mullingar, The Whiskey River Band are playing a gig in aid of AWARE.
The money raised will be used by the depression-defeating charity to help train people, especially in schools and the workplace, to recognise depression in people and its treatment. Depression affects everyone, both young and old, and oftentimes, it goes undetected.
The Whiskey River Band are one of Ireland’s leading corporate and wedding bands playing mainly country, rock ’n’ roll, trad, and blues music meaning there is something for everyone.
Through fundraisers like this gig, AWARE will be able to highlight awareness of depression and show staff in workplaces, teachers, and students in schools and others how to recognise depression, even if the affected person doesn’t know they are depressed.
Within the past six weeks, AWARE has been raising money in the Westmeath area through students collecting money at doors of shopping centres, breakfast mornings, table quizzes, and even athletics. Organising the event is Catherine Lindsay, whose son James ran in the Dublin City Marathon for AWARE. Tickets are €10 while the show begins at 10pm.
