Country Irish artists, headlined by Robert Mizzell and special guest Big Tom, sing to house the forgotten and displaced at a country music charity concert in Athlone.
Recession, gloom and doom, they’ve seen it all in Bosnia Herzegovina and in true Irish style, the best of Irish Country artists, headlined by Robert Mizzell and special guest Big Tom, will unfold a feast of music at a concert in the Hodson Bay Hotel on Wednesday November 26 to raise funds for the homeless many miles away in the Balkans.
The concert’s star-studded line up, comprising Robert Mizzell, his band the Country Kings, Shaun Loughrey, Damien Bowe, The Benn Sisters, TR Dallas, Keith McDonald, Frank Forde, Seamus Moore the JCB man, and the legend that is Big Tom as special guest, have all agreed to donate their time and talent, free of charge, to help the Midlands branch of Rebuild for Bosnia to provide housing for families still displaced and suffering in the post-war regions. Shannonside’s Joe Finnegan will be master of ceremonies on the night and the Hodson Bay Hotel has also stepped to the forefront and donated the venue and their services free of charge.
Ballyforan’s Frank Grehan of the Midlands branch of Rebuild for Bosnia, who heads up a vibrant committee and who visited the region and saw the desperate state of some families, said “he was humbled by the generosity of the artists”.
“It’s a tough time in Ireland now but it has been a tough time for much longer in Bosnia Herzegovina; as a country we always rise, as a people we give what we can, but Robert Mizzell, his band, and his fellow musicians, singers, and the Hodson Bay Hotel have gone beyond that to host this dream team of talent, it’ll be a fantastic concert,” he said.
Veteran singer, TR Dallas said that he and his fellow musicians were “always more than willing to give any help possible to charities like Rebuild for Bosnia.”
Tickets are €27.50 and are available from the following outlets: Hodson Bay Hotel; Ganlys Hardware Store; Eight till late, Roscommon; Shannonside Radio Station; and Harten’s Shop.
Tickets are being sold on a first come first served basis, so you are advised to get your tickets early to avoid any disappointment.
