The hunt for the Midlands Next Top Model came to a glittering end this weekend with Athlone native Darren King being awarded the coveted title. Darren, together with the 10 finalists who were selected from the numerous entries received at the open casting sessions in early May, took to the red carpet in Athlone Towncentre over the weekend as part of the finale which was held as part of Athlone Towncentre’s summer fashion highlights show.
The competition which was hosted by Athlone Towncentre in conjunction with Catwalk Modelling Agency and Tom Tailor Athlone, attracted a huge level of interest again this year helped by its top prize which was a shopping spree to the value of €1,000 in Athlone Towncentre and Tom Tailor Athlone as well as a year-long contract with Catwalk Modelling Agency of Galway.
As part of the competition there was also the opportunity for Athlone Towncentre customers to have their say in the public vote which was available through the Athlone Towncentre facebook page prior to the finale. These votes were added to those of the two other judges, Mandy Maher from Catwalk Modelling Agency and photographer Eric Molloy.
