The Life Festival at Belvedere Gardens has been granted its licence despite concerns that it is being transferred from outside the area.
Judge Seamus Hughes said it was unusual to see a hotel in Dublin transfer its licence to an area like Mullingar for the festival which takes place next weekend.
The application was made for the independent music festival to allow the sale of alcohol using the licence of Sweeney’s Hotel, Dame Street.
A solicitor on behalf of the organisers said he was confident the application was correctly before the court.
He said the festival, which is small-scale, had been running for two years without incident.
Inspector Jarlath Folan said there was no objection to the application and that the organisers had been liaising with gardai.
He said he believed everything is in order.
Judge Hughes granted the application and wished the festival every success.
The three day festival will take place in Belvedere Gardens this weekend from May 27 - 29 includetwo outdoor stages and four indoor main areas.
