Westmeath ladies win division four

Westmeath 1-11 Roscommon 2-06

Westmeath’s lady footballers created history by collecting the division four crown at the expense of neighbours Roscommon in Cusack Park, Ennis on Sunday last. Having come out on top when the sides met in the group stages, Westmeath entered the game as favourites but were pushed all the way by a game Roscommon side.

Karen Hegarty kicked six points from play in a player of the match display, while Laura Walsh got the all-important goal for the Lakelanders.

Following on the heels of the camogie team’s capture of their division four title at the expense of Cavan, it has been a productive few weeks for Westmeath ladies on the playing fields. They now can focus their thoughts on the Leinster intermediate final against Longford on June 22.
