The World Record attempt of 1,000 people knitting simultaneously is making waves across the country, with the event being discussed on radio, TV, and online.
Boylesports Roscommon, located at Unit 1, Park House, Main Street is sponsoring over €1,200 towards the event taking place at Dr Hyde Park, Athlone Road, Roscommon town on Saturday April 30. The Roscommon store is donating a €100 festival sponsorship and €100 charity bet to the Irish Wheelchair Association. If the bet loses they will donate the €100 stake to the charity so everyone’s a winner!
On the day, Boylesports will also give a free €2 bet on the Irish Lotto (Boylesports Lucky Numbers ) to the first 500 ladies (must be aged 18 plus ) who register on the day. These bets can then be placed in the Roscommon store that day or up until Wednesday may 4 for that night’s Lotto draw. Any winnings can be collected nationwide from any of the 161 Boylesport shops.
Speaking on behalf of the company, Gillian Threader, area manager stated, “Boylesports Roscommon is very proud to support the Roscommon Lamb Festival and the World Record attempt and have no doubt it will be a great success! We are also proudly supporting the festival charity, The Irish Wheelchair Association and wish everyone involved the best of luck over the bank holiday weekend.” The festival needs 1,000 knitters to knit simultaneously for 15 minutes.
