Irish charity Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Ireland (SBHI ) is calling on thrill-seekers in Westmeath to take the plunge at their charity bungee jump with Bungee Ireland this May.
There is very little out there to match the pure adrenaline rush of a bungee jump, as leaping from a 100ft platform with just a giant elastic band around your ankles is as thrilling as it is daunting! Once you’ve made the leap of faith and fallen as low as the extension will allow, the cord’s recoil will send you skywards with massive G force.
SBHI is hosting a fundraiser with a difference on Saturday May 7 at the Point Village, Dublin. The Bungee Jump will be kicking off at 9.30am and finishing at 6pm and everyone is welcome. The set-up allows those with Spina Bifida to take part thanks to special safety harnesses and special assistance.
Irish actor and comedian, Brendan O’Carroll has come on board as an ambassador for the event following his own family experience with the conditions of Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus on Brendan tragically lost a child to the condition.
Anyone taking part in the charity bungee jump must raise a minimum of €200. Sponsorship cards are available from SBHI by calling (01 ) 4572329 or (01 ) 668 0600. The day promises to be an enjoyable day out. People are invited to come along with supporters and even in fancy dress!
Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus Ireland are serving a society in which all people with disabilities are recognised for their strengths and are afforded a fair and equal opportunity to make the most of their lives. They help their members to get the best from health, education and social services, as well as continuing to lobby the Government to improve services and access for the disabled. The main ambition is to enable members of the Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus community to achieve full participation in society.
