Westmeath u21s face Offaly in Athlone

Following their impressive 1-15 to 1-5 win over Laois in the opening round, Westmeath u21 footballers now face neighbours Offaly this Wednesday (March 9 ) in Pairc Chiarain Athlone at 7.30pm.

The Westmeath side will still be without the services of the suspended John Heslin. Pat Flanagan’s men are serious contenders for provincial if not all-Ireland glory this year but would be well advised to take nothing for granted against the Faithful County.

Offaly had five points to spare when the sides met at minor level and went on to contest the provincial decider. With players of the quality of Rhode’s (and AIT’s ) Ken Casey and Anton Sullivan and having drawn recently with Roscommon in a recent challenge, Offaly will be no pushover.

Westmeath will be looking for big performances from the likes of Ben Moran, Kieran Martin, James Dolan, Darragh Daly, Conor Lynam, Ger Egan, and Ian Coffey to secure another win. With the right attitude they should progress.
