Burgess Department Store, Athlone opened its doors on Wednesday morning for the start of the biggest sale the store has seen in its 171 years of trading history.
“Needs must,” explained store managing director Rosie Boles as she and her team prepared for the massive refurbishment sale, which opened to invited customers on Wednesday and Thursday and to the public this morning, Friday February 25, at 10am.
“Unfortunately the lower ground floor of the store suffered significant water damage during the big freeze last December and we have to essentially clear out the shop to allow for significant repairs and refurbishment work to commence,” she explained.
“For the first time in our trading history, everything, and I mean everything, in the store is going to be on sale. That includes our current season fashion stock too!”
