On Tuesday, Devaney entered the court with his face covered, flanked by four detectives, through a noisy but controlled crowd of approximately 70 onlookers, before being embraced by a relative on entry. After his brief hearing, he was led efficiently away by at least four detectives to an awaiting car outside the court.
