An elderly woman has died after being struck by a car while walking at Ballydangan on Wednesday evening this week.
The incident occurred on the old Athlone to Ballinasloe road at Ballydangan, at approximately 8.30pm on Wednesday.
The woman was walking in the Ballydangan area when she was struck by the car and fatally injured. No one else was injured in the collision. Gardai had not yet released her identity yesterday evening.
The scene of the collision was closed to facilitate a forensic collision investigation, and diversions were put in place.
