Roscommon’s brightest battle for Young Scientist honours

Thirteen Roscommon projects are to battle it out for the top spot at the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition, currently under way at the RDS, Dublin. The overall winners will be announced later today [Friday].

Projects from up and coming Roscommon scientists include studies of the potential of silage effluent as a biofuel; the effectiveness of hand hygiene; curvature of the spine due to heavy schoolbags; reusing wastewater from the washing machine and dishwasher; and an investigation into the intelligence of the common Irish woodlice.

Congratulations and good luck to the local projects which have made it this far, which include 11 from Scoil Muire gan Smál, Roscommon; one from St Joseph’s College, Summerhill, Athlone; and one from Elphin Community College.
