Westmeath company announces 20 new jobs

Twenty new jobs are on the cards for Westmeath, with the announcement that food company Mr. Crumb is to expand its operations in Finea in the north of the county.

The new jobs were announced last Friday when Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Brendan Smith, visited the factory.

Mr. Crumb is to expand its operations thanks to securing a contract for a dedicated canapés line with French retail company Picard. The 20 extra jobs will bring the total number of staff up to 70.

The company is well known for its stuffing and breadcrumbs, and also produces burritos, desserts, party foods, and bespoke speciality foods.

Mr. Crumb was founded in 1996 by Bernard Coyle. The company has won several international awards, with its products sold in many Irish and UK supermarket chains. Since its establishment it has maintained continuous year-on-year growth of over 35 per cent per annum.
