Members of the public are being advised to report all leaks to Westmeath County Council, as council workers continue to battle to restore full water service to the Mullingar area.
Overnight shut-offs are still being implemented in order to resotore reservoir levels and ensure that all parts of the county have water supply during the day, and will continue for the next number of nights.
Areas served by the Mullingar Regional Water Supply Scheme are currently experiencing water supply restrictions from 9pm at night until 9am in the morning.
This affects water supply to the majority of areas supplied by the Mullingar Regional Water Supply Water Supply Scheme, and includes environs of Mullingar, including most housing estates, Milltownpass, Rochfortbridge, Tyrellspass, Ballinagore, Kilbeggan, Horseleap, Killucan, Rathwire, Kinnegad, Ballinalack, Streete, Lismacaffrey, and Rathowen. Standpipes are available in several areas, a full list of which is available at www.westmeathcoco.ie Water from standpipes and water tankers should be boiled before consumption.
In its latest statement, the council advises home owners to continuously check for leaks within their properties. It adds that it is working to deal with leaks as quickly as possible, and that “it may be necessary for the council to implement emergency supply restrictions without warning in order to ensure that reservoir levels are maintained and to facilitate repairs”.
All leaks are to be reported to Westmeath County Council at (044 ) 9332000.
