A man has appeared before Mullingar District Court charged with more than 20 sexual offences.
The 59-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is alleged to have committed the offences between 1983 and 1990 in the Midlands.
He has been sent forward for trial to the Circuit Court on 17 counts of buggery between 1986 and 1990 and six counts of indecent assault on a male victim in 1983 and 1986.
Legal aid was granted, including junior and senior counsel for what were described as “serious charges”.
The court heard his circumstances are poor.
