Pair admit to drug dealing in the town

A number of people have pleaded guilty at Mullingar Circuit Court to drug dealing.

Peter Bowman, who now lives at Rathconrath, pleaded guilty without prejudice under Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act to possession of cannabis for sale or supply at his then home 23 Ushnagh Court in October of last year.

Bowman did not plead guilty to a more serious charge under Section 15A of the same act which refers to drugs valued at more than €12,700 and which carries a minimum mandatory 10 year sentence.

In the District Court, evidence was given that the value of the drugs seized was in the region of €70,000. He will go forward for trial on that more serious charge in the new year.

A woman has also admitted dealing in cannabis resin and ecstasy at her home.

Tanya Glynn who has an address at Ardleigh Crescent, Mullingar was charged with the offences which took place at her address on August 12 2003. Sentencing will take place in February.
