Judge promises to take burgluries seriously

A man charged with trespassing and theft at Killucan has been sent forward for trial at Mullingar Circuit Court.

Judge Aeneas McCarthy said he takes burglary very seriously and believes that most cases should be heard in the superior court.

Having heard a summary of the evidence in the case of Vladislav Pana, who has an address at Apartment 10, 13 Garrison Mews, Loughlinstown in Dublin, he decided the case was not a minor matter that could be heard in the District Court.

Garda Robert Ryland outlined how a house in Killucan was burgled on October 1 this year and that the house was occupied at the time, though there was no confrontation.

Pana is alleged not to have entered the house himself and is also charged with handling a 42” Sony plasma TV that was taken.

Mr Redmond O’Regan, who was a granted legal aid certificate on behalf of his client, said the 29-year-old will be pleading not-guilty.

A book of evidence is to be prepared for a date in February.
