Disco Nouveau is Mullingar’s underground club night. Brainchild of Gavin MacDonagh, Disco Nouveau was conceived in January 2008. The main purpose of the night is to throw kick-ass parties once a month in an intimate venue while the objective is also to bring some of the best DJs in Ireland to Mullingar.
Residents include Gamadon, Jason Carroll, Ger Hutchinson, and Shaun Drinan. Music on the nights include minimal, house, electro, and techno. This month sees Dublin electronic rock band Noise Control come to Disco Nouveau in support of their debut album Our Life alongside Mullingar’s own iRate Soundsystem on Saturday October 30. Admission on the door is only €5 and festivities kick off at 10pm.
After a number of impressive EPs and two music videos, Dublin band Noise Control at long last release their debut full length album Our Life. An uncompromising fusion of electric guitars and bass, big beat drums, dance inspired synthesizers, and hip hop influenced vocals, Our Life sees Noise Control deliver the intensity and integrity of their well honed live performances in an eleven track album that showcases the band’s energetic and unapologetic sonic desire to keep the crowd moving. This is hands up, peak time music for the masses who want to have fun!
Early on in the band’s career they were personally chosen by The Prodigy to be the opening act for the Irish leg of the Their Law tour playing massive indoor venues like the Odyssey Arena in Belfast and the O2 in Dublin. Following on from such humble beginnings the band has continued to lend their support to a host of international touring acts including Underworld, Tricky, Asian Dub Foundation, and Calvin Harris to name but a few. With summer festival slots at the likes of Live in the Park, Electric Picnic and headlining sets at the Castle Palooza festival, Noise Control brought their big system sound to ever expanding audiences and garnered extremely positive press in the process. Their songs have appeared during Irish national television coverage of World Cup 2010 and the Champions League Final, Noise Control have never been shy of maximising their potential exposure through various forms of multimedia including two of the band’s tracks appearing on Disney Interactive’s worldwide released XBOX 360 and PS3 racing videogame Pure.
Now with the release of their album, Noise Control are set to build on the momentum they have generated to date and with UK tour dates in support of the album planned, the band is inviting everyone to come and spend a night in Our Life.
