Excitement filled the air this week when director of Midland Drama School, Lorraine Wynne, received a phone call from the Irish Entertainment Awards to inform her that her girlband Elles Divas are up for an award for the Best Upcoming Pop Teen Girlband 2010.
The awards are being held in the Helix Theatre Dublin on October 11. Brian Ormond will be presenting the show, which will play host to celebrities including Mike Denver, Michael English, Tony Kenny, Paul Harrington, and upcoming girlband Underground. Band member of Underground, Zoe Boherquez is a former student of Midland Drama Schools and also a singing student of Lorraine’s.
Elles Divas are three of Lorraine Wynne’s drama and singing students Jane O’Boyle, Leah Buckley, and Avril Spain, who came together last year to form the girlband, and were trained by Lorraine to compete in many local talent competitions. Elles Divas also appeared on The Late Late Toy Show last November. To be given this opportunity is a privilege and the girls intend on representing the Midlands in style at the awards.
